i just an optical printer class at film arts foundation, and didn't realize you can't go from super 8 to super 8 and just add effects. you have to film the new images in 16mm. this might not be a bad thing though, but i'm wondering how cost effective it might be. if i have a 20 minute super 8 movie, how much would it cost to use the optical printer and turn it into a 16mm film? is it cheaper than taking it to a place to get it transferred? just wondering if anyone else has experienced the optical printer...
